We are in the middle of fashion month and today is the first day of Milan FW17 fashion week. To celebrate the occasion I decided to get in the mood by sharing this little party outfit with you guys.
I love the sparkly paillettes skirt, which is definitely an all-year-round (during summer without tights), all-time favorite piece. This particular one is from French Connection and I got it in New York ages ago but it’s very easy to find similars.
The challenge of wearing a mini skirt when you are not size 0 and 2 meters tall is making it look as if you were! The solution? Pick a high-waisted model that doesn’t have some kind of crazy print and combine it with sky high heels. The heel trick works best when the shoe and your tights have the same color: like in my case black on black. If you are feeling a little kinky go with more see-through tights, they always add an extra little bit of sex-appeal to any look! 😉 And this works with every mini skirt. I saw another one I love here, which one could use to make this entire look ‘boho’ instead of ‘party’. Sometimes turning a look around is as easy as changing the key piece.
Considering the tights + heels trick, I honestly must admit that I almost prefer wearing very short skirts in the winter. I just feel less naked because of the tights!
Another thing that helps if you wanna conceal your curves a bit (not that anyone should but personally moving around in the fashion world I usually try to dress myself making me look as slim as I can), is a blazer or jacket that covers at least your hips. This conceals a little bit and adds a certain air of cool if you pick the right one. Personally I love oversize blazers and trench coats for spring!
Then just top off your look with some accessories you love and voila! I chose a very particular earring by Brazilian designer Carlos Penna, some quite aggressive rings by Ludevine and a minimalistic handbag by one of my favorite leather goods brands called M2Malletier. Always remember how important the accessories are! They add the YOU to the look!
Happy Milan fashion week ya’all!
