This outfit I shot in Milan a little bit before leaving to Australia, where I am now. So if you are in the parts of the world where it’s currently winter I hope it can serve as a bit of an inspiration to you guys.
I chose a location which I’ve always loved: Arco della Pace above Parco Sempione in Milan. It’s an area I rarely ever go to even though right next to it are lots of bars and restaurants. It’s just a beautiful monument, the origins of which can be traced back to the Roman walls. Back then the gate was called ‘Porta Giovia’, which means Jupiter’s Gate. Just kind of liked this random little bit of info about the arch and thought I’d share with you guys!
As far as my look is concerned, I really wanted a coat that had a bit more ‘serious’ look to it (think clean cut / masculine style / Celine) and found this great piece at H&M. I think this coat is so great because it’s really long, that’s what gives it that certain air of ‘cool’ I look for in clothing or outfits I create. I want to look feminine and beautiful but never only. There has to be an edge to every outfit somewhere. A cool jacket or coat can often do that (think leather jackets or bombers: COOL) for an outfit. That’s why I have so many coats.. haha.
The earrings are another great H&M find. I admittedly first saw them on a colleague of mine and just had to go get them. To me they are totally Celine, totally minimal chic and I love them! Have really been wearing them a lot since I got them. So both the earrings and the jacket I think are great buys. (links at the end of this entry)
The hat is an oldie I have in my wardrobe that I got back in the New York days as well as the backpack, which is a vintage piece I found in Brooklyn some years ago. It’s a simple bag but backpacks are another accessory which add ‘casual’ and ‘cool’ to a look. So I liked it with this look that’s playing on contrasts a bit. Masculine coat.. feminine earrings. Casual bag… Not so casual boots…
I hope you enjoy this post! Always love to read your comments!
Much love from Sydney,
